VODA ONE STRENGTHENS GOVERNMENT SOLUTIONS
PORTFOLIO WITH AWARD-WINNING MERU NETWORKS WIRELESS LAN SYSTEM
Voda One Resellers Can Now Offer the Meru WLAN System and
Security Services Module to Federal, State and Local Government
Agencies
Sunnyvale, CA — August 23, 2006
Westcon Group, Inc., a multi-national distributor of convergence
and IT security solutions, announced that Meru Networks the
global innovation leader in wireless infrastructure for the
All-Wireless Enterprise, has been added to its Comstor
divisions’ GSA schedule 70, the country’s 9th largest by volume.
This enables Westcon Group’s Voda One division to offer Meru’s
award-winning wireless solutions to the government market via
its Federal Edge program, while giving Meru a key contractual
vehicle to access this rapidly expanding market.
Voda One can now offer the fast-growing government market the
entire Meru Networks portfolio, including its ground-breaking
Security Services Module (SSM), which delivers the industry’s
only RF signal level security. The SSM module can be used in
conjunction with Meru Access Points or Meru Radio Switches, and
enables critical features for government agencies including
continuous micro-scanning, radio jamming and transmission
scrambling.
Steve Bernard, vice president and general manager of Voda One,
commented: “Voda One, through its impressive Avaya-centric VoIP
solutions portfolio and its Federal Edge program, is in a unique
position to offer wireless solutions to the government that can
boost efficiency and security. When combined with an Avaya
convergence infrastructure, the Meru WLAN System represents an
attractive growth opportunity in this market for both Meru and
Voda One.”
“There is an ever-increasing demand for wireless security in
U.S. government agency IT infrastructure,” commented Rachna
Ahlawat, research director, enterprise networking, for Gartner
Research. “Secure wireless transmissions are a pre-requisite for
WLANs, and a mandatory requirement in most federal, state and
local agencies. We see this trend increasing over time.”
Michael Tennefoss, Vice President of Marketing for Meru
Networks, added, “The combination of Voda One’s convergence
expertise, Comstor’s GSA contracting experience, and Meru’s
best-in-class wireless LAN voice, data, and video solutions will
allow Meru to expand significantly its presence in the federal,
state and local government markets. Meru’s field-proven, secure
wireless LAN solutions are ideal for a wide range of government
applications, from economical voice, data, and/or video
solutions that are overlayed on top of existing wired networks,
to all-wireless implementations in green-field or retrofit
applications, to tactical systems that can be deployed rapidly.”
