Meru Networks Receives Network Magazine 2005 Innovation Award

Company’s Industry-leading Cellular Wi-Fi Architecture Selected As Most Visionary Product in the Wireless Product Category

Las Vegas, NV, Networld + Interop 2005 – May 2, 2005

Meru Networks, the global leader in Enterprise VoIP mobility infrastructure, today announced that its cellular Wi-Fi architecture, the core of the company’s Wireless LAN (WLAN) System, has been honored with a 2005 Network Magazine Innovation Award for Most Visionary Product in the Wireless category. Meru’s unique technology which enables VoIP mobility for enterprises, was recognized as one of the most important and creative innovations to be introduced this year in the wireless category.

Network Magazine received over 200 applications for the annual Innovation Awards which are bestowed upon companies that demonstrate their ability to harness innovation to deliver new and improved business strategies. The publication recognizes innovations in ten different product categories. Meru will be presented with its award in the wireless category at a special luncheon during the N+I 2005 conference in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 4, 2005.

“Network Magazine’s mission is to look beyond the technologies and methodologies that are hot today, concentrating instead on the architectures that will dominate IT a couple years from now,” said Art Wittmann, editor in chief of Network Magazine. “Given that, the winners of the 2005 Innovation Awards are true innovators that we believe will change the rules of the game. These are innovations that will enable IT organizations to substantially better meet the needs of their business.”

“We are pleased to see that our market-leading cellular Wi-Fi technology has been honored by Network Magazine,” said Ihab Abu-Hakima, president and chief executive officer for Meru Networks. “Meru prides itself on being an industry leader in both technological innovation and understanding its customers’ business requirements. We are excited that Network Magazine’s editorial staff has recognized these qualities in our WLAN System.”

Meru’s Cellular Wi-Fi technology, as implemented in the company’s WLAN System, exclusively enables wireline-quality IP voice for mobile enterprise users. Unlike other WLAN systems in which access points (APs) work independently and must be laboriously configured to deliver adjacent, non-overlapping coverage, Meru’s family of WLAN products use this coordinated, “cellular” architecture” in which all APs work together. This provides a seamless blanket of coverage that scales transparently and delivers guaranteed quality of service to every WLAN user.
